A very small team, and no plans to stop being one
BasilBase is deliberately tiny: the people who write the software are the people who answer the support email. That means we hire rarely, and when we do we hire someone who can own a product end to end rather than a slice of one.
What working here would mean
Everything we sell is a small application with a real price on it, bought by people who chose it deliberately. Whoever joins would own one of those products outright: its code, its release, its bug reports and the email from the customer who found the bug. There is no layer between the work and the person paying for it.
The trade is honest in both directions. A catalogue this size cannot offer the salary or the ladder of a large company, and we will not pretend otherwise in an interview. What it can offer is complete ownership of something people actually pay for, and the ability to ship a fix on the same day you decide it matters.
We are not a startup, we are not raising, and we are not trying to grow into a large company. The company runs on subscription revenue from the products listed on this site, which is a slower way to build a business and a much steadier one.

A self-contained problem from an actual product, agreed and paid for in advance. You keep whatever you write, and you get written feedback whether or not there is an offer.

Terms in writing
What the work is, what it pays and how it is reviewed, written down before anyone commits. Take as long as you need to answer — we do not use exploding deadlines.
